While exploring and experimenting with Android XR, we couldn’t help but notice that Monado is right there, at the heart of the new OpenXR runtime for Android XR!
This discovery gave us a moment to reflect on how far Monado has come. It also speaks to the maturity of the project that Google chose it as the foundation for its Android XR OpenXR runtime. A proud day for everyone who contributed to Monado!
This milestone highlights how open source software continues to shape the XR industry, ensuring broad interoperability and innovation across platforms.
At Collabora, we’re thrilled to see Monado enabling the next generation of XR experiences on Android, and we look forward to continuing our journey with partners and the OpenXR community toward a more open and connected XR ecosystem.
If you’re a headset maker interested in achieving OpenXR compliance or building on Monado, we’d love to collaborate. Learn more about our XR engineering services and get in touch with us!
