Building on our Open Source strengths in AI and data-driven solutions, Collabora's machine learning team, led by Marcus Edel, Vineet Suryan, and Aaron Boxer, has taken first place in Track 3 of the ICME 2025 Grand Challenge on Video Super-Resolution for Video Conferencing! This is the second time our ML team is recognized for their hard work and vision, following last year's nomination for the 2024 Embedded Award at Embedded World.

Collabora's winning submission introduces a novel mixture-of-experts framework for screen content super-resolution, addressing the growing need for high-quality upscaling in bandwidth-constrained screen-sharing scenarios. The approach combines the Implicit Transformer Super-Resolution Network for restoring general image structures and a text-specific refinement stage, which uses a diffusion-based model inspired by TextSSR, enhanced with Large Language Model-assisted OCR correction.

In two weeks' time, Collabora will be attending IEEE International Conference on Multimedia & Expo (ICME) in Nantes, France, to further discuss this work. Taking place from June 30 to July 4 at the Cité Nantes Congress Centre, this event will bring together leading researchers and practitioners to share their latest developments in their respective fields.

Additionally, to dive into all the elements required for this application to succeed, Marcus will be giving a talk showcasing Collabora’s novel framework combining ITSRN and diffusion-based text refinement for high-fidelity screen content upscaling.

If you are attending ICME next week and would like to meet to discuss how we can assist with your Open Source and Linux-based machine learning projects, please get in touch. We will be happy to set some time aside to meet with you.

Rendez-vous à Nantes!
