Say hello to the newest Collaborans!

Collabora's worldwide team of engineers and developers continues to grow! Comprised of some of the most motivated and active Open Source contributors and maintainers around the world, our team shares an enduring passion for technology and Open Source, and these new Collaborans are no different. Please join us in welcoming Gert, Gustavo, Erik, Christoph, Ryan & Ana!

Gert Wollny

Gert Wollny joined our Graphics team in April 2018 as a Consultant Senior Software Engineer. Gert has a PhD in Computer Science, completed at the University of Leipzig in Germany, and worked as a researcher in medical and anthropological image processing. He is a Debian Developer within the Debian Med team, maintaining imaging and image processing software. Gert also contributes to Mesa 3D and maintains a Gentoo overlay of imaging software.

Gustavo Serra Scalet

Gustavo Serra Scalet joined our Core team in May as a Consultant Senior Software Engineer. He is based in Campinas, Brazil and has years of experience as an Open Source Software Developer. He has worked on different areas like porting of interpreters and JIT compilers to PowerPC architecture, building Linux installers and also on embedded systems of one of the biggest tier-2 automotive suppliers, further honing his C language skills.

Erik Faye-Lund

Erik Faye-Lund joined our Graphics team last month as a Consultant Principal Software Engineer. He is based in Norway and brings with him years of low-level development experience, specialized around GPUs and OpenGL/OpenGL ES. He has also worked on developing development tools for Android and iOS, high-performance software for oil exploration, and OpenGL ES drivers and technology demos for the Mali-line of GPUs, among many others.

Ana Rute Mendes

Ana Rute Mendes is our second new joiner from this group who is based in São Paulo, Brazil. She has a mixed background in Entrepreneurship and Web Development and has worked with FOSS in education for several years. She brings with her years of experience in web development and team leadership to help maintain and improve Collabora's software tools.

Christoph Haag

Christoph Haag is a recent master‘s graduate based in Stuttgart, Germany. He joined our engineering team last month, bringing with him his knowledge and experience in various VR SDKs and technologies. He is also interested in Linux Graphics and graphics drivers to enable a full open source VR stack. Christoph also maintains various VR and driver-related packages on the AUR.

Ryan A. Pavlik

Ryan A. Pavlik is a leader in Open Source, cross-platform virtual and augmented reality (XR) technology. He earned his BS in computer science and math at St. Norbert College, and his PhD with majors in human-computer interaction and computer science at Iowa State University in their Virtual Reality Applications Center. At Sensics, Inc., he led the design of the Open Source Virtual Reality (OSVR) software framework as CTO - OSVR Platform. He joins Collabora as Principal Software Engineer in XR research and development. He is a long-time Open Source contributor to a diverse range of projects, and is a key participant and contributor in the XR API standards working group at the Khronos Group.
