Collabora, a leading open source software consultancy, is currently looking for an Engineering Manager to join their expanding team. The Engineering Manager will ensure that Collabora's resource pool matches the current and future needs of the company, the industry, and the market at large to successfully deliver customer and internal projects.
Roles & Responsibilities
The responsibilities will include the following:
Strategic Planning
- Work with other functions (Sales, Finance, and Delivery) in Collabora to predict and plan the resource profile (number and skills) required to deliver projects.
- Produce, maintain, and agree a 1,3, and 6 month resource/skill forecast.
Project Allocation
- Assign suitable resources to on-going projects and reserve resources for up-coming projects.
- Assist project managers with selecting resources.
- Maintain a detailed resource allocation plan.
- Resolve day to day conflicts based on commercial priorities.
- Help drive and maintain an average utilization of XX%.
Resource Management
- Ensure that Collabora has the right mix of skills in the right proportions.
- Recruit, outsource, contract, and/or coordinate training to meet strategic plan.
- Coordinate interviews/screenings of potential future resources.
- Provide training opportunities (on-the-job or taught) to maintain the skill profile of the resource pool.
- Build an eco-system of partners, agents, and/or sole contractors who could be used to flex the organization at short notice or when commercially expedient.
Talent Management
- Develop career paths that meet individuals' and the company's needs.
- Carry out appraisals.
- Produce development plans for individuals.
- Escalate and resolve performance issues.
- Work with other functions to carry out salary planning.
- Promote Collabora ideals and values.
- Promote the morale of the team.
- Coordinate with Marketing the edits and reviews of resumes and profiles to make sure recent project assignments are included.
Time Management
- Spot upcoming "idle" time for individuals and arrange project work if possible, otherwise training, or practice time.
- Manage "bench" resources for internal projects
Line Management
Deal with normal day to day line management, e.g. pay and rations
Skills and Qualifications
- Able to prioritise and manage multiple critical functions for effective and efficient completion of tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be a detail-oriented team player with excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Coaching skills and process development skills.
- Demonstrated professionalism, tact, diplomacy, discretion, and judgment.
- Strong resourcefulness and autonomy yet with impeccable team player skills.
- Outgoing and engaging individual who is effective at building good working relationships with all levels of the organisation.
- Expertise in analytics, thoughtful data integration, analysis and recommendations would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of surveys, assessments, scorecards, and benchmarking analysis is a plus
